MANISH ARORA FALL 2013
ANGEL MCQUEEN TRAN
It was a project from my Fashion Workshop class at IFA. We got to go to all the big department stores like Printemps and Galleries Lafayette to do a trend research. Then we had to pick a designer that we liked. Studied the collection, observed their style and created a mini collection with at least 3 looks which will go well with the main collection. Like you imagine yourself work for that designer house.
It was too obvious if I picked Alexander McQueen or Givenchy so I picked Manish Arora. I didn't know much about him at first but I felt in love with his collection at Galleries Lafayette in an instant. The bold colors, the prints, the fur, the blingbling, embroideries... there're so much going on but everything go perfectly together. Manish Arora is amazing, loving his work and the way he put color together, it's all over the top and joyful. This collection was from the fall 2013 which was inspired from his trip back from Burning Man. I did 10 looks and followed his code through out the collection. I used the same fabric, colors that he used but only changed the silhouette and created something that mine.
I was happy with my design and the presentation went well.
Would Manish Arora hire me to work for him?
